Salvesen Graham
Salvesen Graham is a comprehensive design service provider, founded in London by Mary Graham and Nicole Salvesen. Both founders have over 25 years of experience in the design industry and trained with some of the world's top designers, working on residential and commercial projects.
Salvesen Graham creates designs that exude warmth and softness and evoke a sense of retreat from the everyday bustle. The elegance of Georgian England influences their designs, particularly in terms of architecture and furniture. They also draw inspiration from the colourful and intricate chintz designs of the Eighteenth and Nineteenth Centuries made specifically for the English export market. To create their designs, Salvesen Graham has developed its own fabric and furniture ranges under The Salvesen Graham Collection.
As professional creatives, Mary and Nicole are focused on creating authentic Future Heritage interiors that are classically beautiful and carefully curated spaces, designed to be stylish and comfortable in the present and in years to come. Their design pedigrees give them a sensitivity to historical and traditional interior schemes, combined with a confident and playful flair for colour and pattern.
Salvesen Graham is currently working on several projects, including a large country house in England, chalets in the Alps, a family home in the USA, and various townhouses in London for both UK and US clients.
Retrouvius
Retrouvius is a London-based architectural salvage and design company. First founded by Adam Hills and Maria Speake in 1993, this studio had a vision of creating beautiful designs through the innovative use of discarded materials. Their philosophy is centred around the idea of finding value in objects that are often overlooked and underappreciated, and repurposing them in creative and sustainable ways. By salvaging materials that might otherwise end up in landfill, Retrouvius is able to reduce waste and environmental impact while creating unique and beautiful spaces. The company's website showcases a range of projects, including residential and commercial spaces, that demonstrate their expertise in designing with salvaged materials.
Retrouvius offers bespoke design services for clients who are looking for something truly unique. The company's team of experienced designers and craftsmen work closely with clients to create custom pieces and installations that are tailored to their specific needs and aesthetic preferences.
If you’re looking for a smaller commitment than a full project, Retrouvius also operates an online shop that features a range of salvaged materials and vintage items that can be used in design projects. From reclaimed flooring and antique lighting fixtures to salvaged doors and windows, the shop offers a wide range of options for designers and homeowners who are looking for something with character and history.
Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler
Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler is the longest established interior decorating firm in Great Britain, having been founded in the 1930s. The firm has become synonymous with the English country house aesthetic over nearly a century of operation. The pioneering approach of Sibyl Colefax, which effortlessly mixes old with new and luxurious with humble, is still interpreted today by the firm's seven decorators, who are supported by an architectural interior designer.
The decorators recently moved from their iconic Mayfair showroom, home to Nancy Lancaster’s Yellow Room, to Pimlico Road, heralding a new era for the firm. They are skilled at creating 21st-century interiors as well as working on historic buildings. The firm's commissions range from some of Britain's most notable stately homes to modern city apartments, ranches in America, ski chalets in Europe, and tropical beach houses in the Caribbean. They also work on boardrooms, restaurants, yachts, and private jets for a resolutely confidential client list that includes royalty, celebrities, businessmen and women, bohemians, and many in between.
The seven interior decorators, each with a support team, work independently and have distinctive areas of expertise. They can exchange knowledge with one another when necessary, giving clients the advantage of a team of experts working on their project. Clients can choose the designer they feel is right for them, knowing that all of them work to the same high standards.
Collaborating on a project with one of the firm's designers is both enjoyable and rewarding, according to clients. Whether their taste is classic or cutting edge, clients can be confident that the project is being tailored, with great attention to detail, to suit their individual requirements. The end result is not only beautiful to look at and deeply comfortable, but also entirely personal, with subtle, unobtrusive luxury taken for granted.
Maddux Creative
Maddux Creative is a Peckham-based award-winning design studio, helmed by two creative visionaries - Scott Maddux and Jo Le Gleud. Their incredible partnership has resulted in the formation of one of the most unique and sought-after design studios in the UK.
Known for the studio’s use of colour and eclecticism, Maddux Creative’s distinctive aesthetic can be traced back to Scott Maddux's early career. Shaped by his experimentation with the contrasting styles of maximalism and minimalism, his background undoubtedly influenced his current eccentric approach to design. He honed his craft under the tutelage of renowned interior designer Ann Boyd, with whom he worked on numerous restoration projects for Forte Heritage hotels.
Jo Le Gleud, on the other hand, is a skilled craft expert with a wealth of experience in the fashion industry. She has worked with leading fashion designer Koji Tatsuno, where she perfected her skills as an embroiderer. She is also trained in silversmithing, tailoring and shoemaking, and her unique skill set is instrumental in creating distinctive pieces for Maddux Creative's projects.
The studio's style is a seamless blend of elegance and variety, with each project exuding its own unique charm. Maddux and Le Gleud draw inspiration from a range of sources, including neoclassical architecture and the vibrant fashion of Dries Van Noten. They encourage their clients to embrace the use of colour and texture, believing that history and modernity can coexist and that craftsmanship should always take precedence.
